About Our Tool

Accidental exposure of sensitive data in cloud storage has become a major security risk, as many organizations misconfigure their access settings without realizing that files or folders are left open to the public. Such weaknesses can lead to serious consequences including data leaks, financial loss, reputational damage, and compliance issues. To address this, our project CS-Guardian is designed to scan Google Cloud Storage using official Google Cloud Platform APIs to detect any publicly accessible folders, alert users when risks are found, and present the results through a clear and user-friendly dashboard. By combining automated detection with real-time alerts and simple visual reporting, this project not only helps prevent data leaks but also raises awareness among users about the dangers of public cloud misconfigurations, empowering both individuals and organizations to strengthen the security of their cloud environments.

🚀

Data Exposure / Leakage

Sensitive files may be leaked if storage buckets are misconfigured as publicly accessible, allowing anyone online to view or download the data.

🔭

Unauthorized Access

Weak access controls or stolen credentials can let attackers enter storage buckets without permission, leading to theft or manipulation of data.

Misconfigurations

Errors like public read/write settings or improper IAM roles create easy entry points for attackers, making data highly vulnerable.
